Kase – Great quality magnetic filters. I have a set of ND’s with a Circular Polariser. Good investment.

Software

DxO PureRAW – pre-processing software that brings all of DxO’s lens measurement and noise reduction expertise to bear on the not so simple problem of optimising RAW files before processing. If you’re a Lightroom user this will give you a 10% boost before you start editing.

You can buy DxO PureRAW 5 here but once there, look out for the bundled offers which extend into January 2026. My recommendation is add Nik Collection, as a bundle it’s really good value for money.

Weather Forecast

Photrus – this is an online service designed for photographers. It interrogates different weather services and returns results tailor made for the locations you want to monitor. Very impressive. Location

Gorafe no question. The site of a prehistoric sea, I’ve visited quite a few times now and it never. fails to amaze. In a rush of blood to the head I drove my Jeep through it this year which after a solid week of rain was both exhilarating and terrifying. Suffice to say when we emerged we got a round of applause from a party of mountain bikers. An absolute endorsement for the Jeep Renegade Trailhawk, the route made the Trailhawk test look like the school run.

Bag

f-stop Guru 25L – I use the Guru nearly every day and it looks as good as it did the day I bought it. I have three bags from f-stop, bought three years ago. The other two are the Tilopa 50L and the Ajna 37L. They are not cheap but a killer combination of indestructible, comfortable and smart. Wouldn’t swap them for any other brand.
